Rhythm Counts part 1 (for beginners)

New to reading music? Coordination issues? Having a hard time counting out rhythms?

 I can help!

Rhythm is the Foundation for all life..

  • Sheet music titled 'Rhythm Counts part 1', showing a counting exercise for rhythm training with notation for counts and beats. The composer is James Johnson (GRP) and the exercise is for long to short durations with a tempo of 55 beats per minute.

    Structure

So many students at any age don't have a plan, and they just dive right into a favorite piece for song and as exciting as it is, I see the learning walls slowly deteriorate as learners struggle with coordination issues, not knowing why they can't learn music, faster? And at least 90% of the time it boils down to basics and rhythm.

If I got a dollar every time I say....

Can you write counts out? Or can you clap the phrase? I would be paying someone else to create this website!

    Good Luck!

Honest talk! You can learn from YouTube – but what many viewers and learners don't know; most content educators just show you some quick fun tricks to keep you on the screen because that's how YouTube pushes out their videos to other people.

I've had a YouTube channel before grassroots piano, and I had videos on rhythms. It didn't go well because it's work. Most people want a quick fix.

But doing the work help you learn skills and that is what makes the music enthusiast improve and have tools of a lifetime.

I stand by this after 30+ years.

The choice is yours – do you want to do things correctly or running to wall six months from now and be frustrated?
